Zeal Dry Food

Like all Zeal products, Zeal Dry Food is beneficial to a cat’s and dog’s health, but it is also different from what’s out in the market. With the help of a well respected and renowned nutritionist, we developed a food that exceeds AFFCO standards, has natural ingredients (including real meat and bone), is shelf stable, and above all, is semi-soft yet dry (note: all dry food in the market is hard dry). It has been developed to be New Zealand’s premium food for cats and dogs.

The protein is 90% animal based, is rich in fish oil and contains prebiotics for overall health. It is low allergen and gluten free. What that means for your pet is a food that sharpens intellect, gives them a healthier heart and is great for skin and coat health, joint flexibility, strength and vitality, and supports immunity.

Further to this we have developed a single serve fully edible and compost-able container (zero-waste packaging) made from plant cellulose and edible potato starch, for the 100g packets of dry food.

A fully compounded steam extruded and dried cat food with a soft, chewy texture. This product is suitable as a complete food for cats and is designed to exceed AAFCO recommendations.

Feeding Guidelines*:
*This food has a higher energy content in comparison to most other brands of dry food; hence the daily amount needed is less than other brands. This also means there are more serving per kilo than conventional product. This is a guideline only; the amount of food fed will depend on the energy requirements of each cat. Active cats will require more energy and more food. Changing to ZEAL cat food should be made gradually, mix ZEAL food with the old food in increasing amounts for the first week. Kittens and Lactating Females will need to be fed more as their energy and nutritional needs are greater. If unsure of how much to feed we recommend asking a vet. Always ensure adequate fresh drinking water or Zeal Pet Milk is freely available.

3 FISH (3 fish variant of Zeal Cat food)
Tuna / Sardine / Mackerel cooked and ground.
A source of high quality protein, it provides an excellent range of amino acids (protein building blocks) for muscle building, tissue repair and a whole host of metabolic functions. Also a source of fish oil.

Chicken (Chicken variant of Zeal cat food)
Chicken, Tuna cooked and ground. A source of high quality protein, it provides an excellent range of amino acids (protein building blocks) for muscle building, tissue repair and a whole host of metabolic functions. Also a source of fish oil.

Low allergen and a good source of carbohydrate with a slightly faster starch digestion than corn.

Tapioca & Potato pulp
Low allergen and a source of readily digestible carbohydrate.

Vegetable Glycerine
An energy source and acts as a preservative by lowering water activity.

Fish Oil
An energy source which provides the fatty acids DHA & EPA (omega-3 fatty acids). May improve ‘intellectual sharpness’ in kittens (DHA) and aid joint development / lubrication (EPA).

Vitamin Mineral Mix (Organic Minerals)
A blend of vitamins (A, D, B1, B2, B3, B12) and minerals (Choline Chloride, Potassium Chloride) to ensure all dietary requirements are met, plus bentonite for intestinal health.

Lecithin is a source of phospholipids, an integral part of cell membranes.

Psyllium Fibre
An insoluble dietary fibre, which is not absorbed by the small intestine. The purely mechanical action of pysllium mucilage absorbs excess water while stimulating normal bowel movement.

Brewers Yeast – Saccaromyces
Contains Protein, bio-available minerals, dietary fibres and B Vitamins. Also acts as a flavour enhancer.

Guar Gum
A water soluble dietary fibre that acts as a bulk forming laxative. As such can be effective in promoting regular bowel movements and relieve constipation. The increased mass in the intestines stimulates the movement of waste and toxins from the system, which is particularly helpful for good colon health. It may speed the removal of waste and bacteria from the bowel and colon. In Addition, because it is soluble, it may also absorb toxic waste substances from bacteria that cause infective diarrhoea.

Potassium Sorbate
The potassium salt of sorbic acid (found primarily in fruit and berries). Its primary use is as a food preservative. Potassium Sorbate is used to inhibit moulds and yeasts which can produce mycotoxins – a broad group of chemicals which can be highly toxic as well as carcinogenic and lead to multiple health issues including suppressed immunity. Potassium sorbate is considered to be very safe because of its long term safety record and non toxic profile. Potassium sorbet is non-irritating and non-sensitizing.

Kelp Powder
Source of Iodine and helps reduce cholesterol and natural flavour enhancer.

Antioxidants (Vitamins C&E and Oregano Extract)
Prevents oxidation / rancidity in the food. Wound healing and tissue repair. Helps prevent oxidative tissue damage.

Methionine Methionine
is a protein-based amino acid and lipotropic compound that helps with metabolism and breaks down fat. It can also help with chelation, which is the removal of heavy metals from the body to ensure that the liver, kidneys, and bladder remain healthy. This amino acid preserves artery function and maintains healthy nails, hair, and skin. Additionally, it is essential for muscle growth and energy.

For cats, unlike most other mammals, taurine is an essential amino acid, meaning that cats can not synthesize their own taurine from other building block amino acids as can dogs and even humans. Thus it is essential that cats take in adequate taurine in their diet on a regular basis.
